A community that shows up.

Family First is a ministry of Greensburg Alliance Church. We help our neighbors surround foster, adoptive, and vulnerable families, and children in foster care, with community and practical care.

Our mission

We are called to serve individuals and families who are impacted by foster care in Westmoreland County, ensuring they feel seen, known, and loved.

“He sets the lonely in families.”

Psalm 68:6

Why Family First started.

Our ministry began taking shape after Jordan Hunt, Director of Westmoreland County Keystone Family Alliance, spoke at our church in 2025. That conversation opened our eyes to the growing need to support vulnerable children and families impacted by the child welfare system.

Keystone Family Alliance believes that everyone can do something. So, what was our something? There are already several families within GAC who have a heart for this work, and we believe God is inviting us to come alongside them and create a culture of support within our church.

The “why” behind this ministry is simple: to protect, serve, and create families. We are passionate about ensuring that vulnerable children and families feel seen, known, and loved, not only when they enter the child welfare system, but throughout their entire journey.

We also know that approximately 90% of foster families who stop fostering within their first two years do so because they lack the support they need. We want to change that by becoming a church community that surrounds, strengthens, and walks alongside families so they don’t have to do this alone.

Three words guide the work.

They shape how every volunteer serves.

Seen

Every child is a person, not a case file. We notice the moment they’re living through.

Known

We listen before we act, so help fits the real need instead of a guess.

Loved

Care is offered in ways that protect dignity and choice, with no strings attached.
